A passionate photographer interested in exploring the world’s cultures and her Mexican cultural heritage, Adelina Pérez del Castillo presents her photography collection on Tzotziles and the Aztec Dancers at A Woman’s Story Gallery of the Empowered Women International at Whole Foods Market, Fair Lakes in Fairfax, VA.

The exhibition shows powerful photographs captured by Adelina, whose cleverness and inspiration won the trust and reliance of the “Tzotziles” (native people from Chiapas) as well as the Aztec Dancers. Through her photography she was able to portray the Tzotziles’ candor and charm; they happen to have the belief that when photographed their souls are taken away.

In each of the photographs Adelina reveals feelings, attitudes and cultural identity elements of the two groups of people within Mexico. Throughout her work she proudly seeks to spread the history and traditions of her homeland.

Perez del Castillo has participated in prestigious group exhibitions including the National Museum of Women in the Arts; Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA); Museum of the City of Washington; International Artists Support Group; Inter-American Development Bank; ARTOMATIC in Maryland and WDC: Kreeger Gallery at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Virginia: George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community Colleges.

She has also exhibited In Hollywood, California at the 4th Convention of the Association Mundial de Mexicanos en el Exterior, and in her native country, Mexico, at the Regional Museum of Queretaro.

She is a member artist of the Empowered Women International and A Woman’s Story Gallery. All photographs in the show are available for sales at the EWI. Proceeds benefit the artist and Empowered Women International.
